德性倫理學(virtue ethics)強調以善的價值(the good)重於對的權利(the right), 此可彌補以權利為主的倫理學(right-based ethics)之缺失, 它主張成就「是一個什麼樣的人」(to be a person)所具備的人格品行的倫理學(character-based ethics / agent-based ethics), 所謂對的行動是指有德性的人(virtuous person)在相同的情境下所做的行動(right act)。課程具體的目標在反省深思遠慮(prudence), 誠實盡責(fidelity), 正義公平(justice), 感同身受(empathy)等品德的內涵與生活實踐。

Virtue ethics emphasizes the value of the good over the right, which can make up for the shortcomings of right-based ethics. It advocates the ethics of character-based ethics / agent-based ethics to achieve "to be a person". The so-called right action refers to the right act performed by a virtuous person in the same situation. The specific goal of the course is to reflect on the connotation and life practice of virtues such as prudence, fidelity, justice, and empathy.
