讓選修同學認識與了解:
1.德國是歐洲最重要國家之一，自近代以來她在文化上的成就與政經的發展，不但影響整個歐洲，而且影響整個世界。此外，她自1871年以來歷經帝國的創建和擴張，第一次世界大戰的挫敗，威瑪共和的散漫與無能，以及希特勒納粹政權獨裁專政崛起後，妄想稱霸歐洲和統治整個世界而敗亡。戰後國家被分區佔領而分裂，但分裂45年後，東、西德於1900年10月3日又重歸統一。新統一的德國又慢慢發展成為歐陸的潛在霸權，和世界舉足輕重的國家。因此，我們對她的近現代歷史的演進和文化的發展，應該加以認識與了解。
2.透過對德國近現代史的認識與了解，增進同學對歐洲近現大文明演進的了解。
3.培養與增強同學的國際觀和世界觀。

Let elective students know and understand:
1. Germany is one of the most important countries in Europe. Since modern times, its cultural achievements and political and economic development have not only affected the entire Europe, but also the entire world. In addition, since 1871, she has experienced the creation and expansion of the empire, the defeat of the First World War, the laxity and incompetence of the Weimar Republic, and the rise of the dictatorship of Hitler's Nazi regime. After that, her delusional attempt to dominate Europe and rule the entire world was defeated. After the war, the country was divided by partition occupation, but 45 years after the division, East and West Germany reunited on October 3, 1900. The newly unified Germany slowly developed into a potential hegemon on the European continent and an important country in the world. Therefore, we should know and understand its modern historical evolution and cultural development.
2. Through the knowledge and understanding of modern German history, students can enhance their understanding of the evolution of modern European civilization.
