本課程以十四世紀末文藝復興及地理大發現為起點，經過宗教改革、專制政體與啟蒙運動後，工業革命(1750)及法國大革命(1789)所謂雙重革命塑造了近代世界的產業及政治型態，十九世紀歐洲革命與反革命的交替，到1870年代進入歐洲顛峰時期，新帝國主義快速向全球擴張，歐洲內部興起大眾政治與文化，而列強間的衝突導致兩次大戰，帶來許多痛苦的轉變，到二十世紀末冷戰結束為止，探討近代世界形成與發展的歷程，增進學生對今日世界的理解。This course starts from the Renaissance and the Great Geographical Discovery at the end of the 14th century. After the religious reform, autocracy and the Enlightenment, the so-called dual revolutions of the Industrial Revolution (1750) and the French Revolution (1789) shaped the industrial and political patterns of the modern world. , the alternation of revolution and counter-revolution in Europe in the 19th century. By the 1870s, Europe entered its peak period. New imperialism rapidly expanded to the world. Popular politics and culture emerged within Europe. The conflicts between the great powers led to two wars, which brought a lot of pain. The transformation of the modern world to the end of the Cold War at the end of the twentieth century, explores the formation and development of the modern world, and enhances students' understanding of today's world.
介紹世界文化發展，從文藝復興時期開始，直到近代的局勢。著力於各地的政治史、主要宗教的發展、文化的重要議題，呈現不同地區、不同民族與族群的互動，思想、經濟、科學、社會結構等的影響。課程提供現代世界文化史的脈絡與成因。
Introduces the development of world culture from the Renaissance to modern times. Focusing on the political history of various places, the development of major religions, and important cultural issues, it presents the interaction of different regions, different nationalities and ethnic groups, and the impact of thought, economy, science, and social structure. The course provides the context and causes of the cultural history of the modern world.
