先秦諸子中,較為重要學派有儒道名法墨,本課程亦以此為主,這些派別,現在還有思想承繼者,只有儒家與道家,儒家在宋明理學裡,扮演著重要角色,而吾人以孔孟荀為主要上課內容;道家思想,於魏晉玄學中,有著重要的影響,如王弼注老,與向郭注莊,都是道家的延續,且有道教的發揚;而名家,乃與現今之邏輯學可參互比較;墨家的兼愛,與佛教的兼愛,基督的兼愛,亦可比較;法家部分,與現今的民主重法制,亦有其關連性,可做為比較Among the pre-Qin scholars, the more important schools include Confucianism, Taoism, and Fa Mo.
