Paleobiology

Course Target

1. Establish a understanding of fossils and the characteristics of deconstructed fossils. 2. Establish a complete concept of the evolution of Earth's history and life. 3. Through the fossil characteristics, understand the structural functions of paleontology at each stage. 4. Understand the kinship of individual taxa in the history of life evolution. 5. Examine the current situation and crisis faced by today's living things by understanding the major evolutions and extinctions in geological history.

Course Description

Paleontology mainly describes the type, life function, kinship, life habits, physiological functions and geographical distribution of life phenomena in various stages of earth history, and infers the paleoclimate environment of the local age by fossil and rock sedimentary characteristics. Explore the origins, evolutionary adaptations, and extinctions of life. Paleontology is the most traditional and classic discipline in the field of general biology. In recent years, with the development of life science research and the continuous accumulation of fossils, new evidence has emerged to overthrow the old hypothesis, constantly influencing and challenging the theory of biological evolution. Through this course, through the penetration of the timeline, one can examine the events of major biological evolution in geological history one by one, and have a deeper understanding of the evolution of life. It also produces a broader and broader understanding of the phenomena of life.
