教育目標 Course Target

In our course, the text should be read not as a schoolbook. As the text is a dense piece of writing, our method should be a hermeneutic one, reading the text line by line and trying to construe the arguments. Basic knowledge of Formal Logic would be fine, but is not necessary. Because the book is hard to understand, it has to be read in-depth and discussed extensively. For that reason we have the time only to read the first book. Additional it is necessary to obtain help from the outstanding commentary by Günther Patzig, Aristotle´s Theory of the Syllogism. In this course the text will be read and discussed. Every student is expected to attend regularly and to take active part, which is crucial for achieving the course´s goals. In every meeting, one or more students should present the topic according the textbook in a short presentation (15 min.)In our course, the text should be read not as a schoolbook.
