Introduction to Literature", as a compulsory introduction for all Chinese students entering the literary world, naturally has a masonry significance: I hope that through such a course, students will have a preliminary understanding of what literature is and besides being a purely happy reader. In addition, we have other ways to gain insight into the subtle and rich passwords hidden in various texts.
Let the classmates understand what "literary is" - such a broad teaching goal is actually not easy to achieve. The difficulties include: If literature is a question of a university, how can we make it clear through an "overview"? As for reading from entertainment to serious reading, will it destroy the simple passion we enjoyed in literature?
In fact, “What is Literature?” should be the first question that the Chinese Department students have after entering this department; and you will answer this question through the next four years or even a lifetime: what literature is, literature What is the meaning of your "self"? Only by reading more and more works and accumulating more life experiences at the same time, you may gradually have a little thought on this issue for yourself; or you may change your vision as your life experiences change. The way you answer this question is different in every stage of your life. This continuous process of exploration and thinking is like a gorgeous adventure that has experienced one after another in the literary world. At this moment, the journey is about to begin.
"Because the text is everything in the work, you can only read the text after reading the text slowly. A concerto of four movements, you can't listen to it within ten minutes as soon as possible. The ideal reader should be like an ideal one. Classical music listeners have not missed every note (word) or even rest (punctuation)." - Wang Wenxing, "The Change of Family"
In this course we will focus on the reading and feelings of texts, including three types of texts: poetry, drama, and fiction. Through the careful reading of the text, we can think about the problem, including the meaning of each word and symbol, the characteristics of different literary forms, what is the literary style, and the world that the text sets up and possibly corresponds to. "Reading" is the key to unlocking the literary world. We expect that students will not rush to find answers from literary works. Instead, they will follow the path of writing patience and travel to and from the text, the world, and the self. It also leaves your own reading mark and gradually develops the ability to evaluate works. In the reading process of each text, students will also be led into the world of literary history and literary theory. Apart from being accumulated as a basis for professional training of Chinese students, they also hope to inspire people with richer analytical skills and vision. .
In addition to introducing the styles of various literary categories (poetry, fiction, prose, drama, and film), this course also includes basic literary theories and concepts of literary function, literary criticism, literary category, and literary communication, and is intended to be based on literary knowledge. The introduction enables students to master the relevance of literature to other disciplines, such as linguistics, history, and psychology, and expands students' literary horizons and knowledge through the reading and theoretical verification of classical and modern related texts. It can be used as a basic course in the history of subsequent literature development and literary criticism.
